Graphic Designer - David

Course completed: Bachelor of Visual Communication (Design)

Current job: Dumbo Feather, Art Director, graphic designer, studio photographer.

When did you first become engaged with the idea of entering your professional field?

In high school I knew I wanted to make art for a living. I weighed up my options and graphic design was the greatest balance between art and the commercial world. So I fell in love with graphic design as an extension of my love of art.

At what point in your schooling did you realise that going to university would help you achieve your career goals?

Going to study at a university was a simple decision for me. How could I say no to studying something I love full time? It's like going to school and only going to the classes you love.

What is the best part of your work day?

Hanging out with my friends, the best team I've ever worked with.

What are two feel-good elements of your job?

  • I love seeing people smile and notice the special things I've put into my work.
  • I also love seeing my work in random shops on the street.

Can you share three interesting / unknown facts about your job?

  • Design is easy if you have the right intentions
  • Having a job where you can be creative is the best thing you can do for yourself.
  • Design is challenging, sometimes difficult, but always rewarding.
