Pathways into Health professions on display for Yea SC students
On Friday 21 November, 16 Y11 students from Yea SC enjoyed this Linking Students to Health Careers activity at La Trobe University.
LEAP into...Health Coordinator, Julia Watts, really engaged the students with activities centred on the Health professions. This was followed by a tour of the university’s Nursing and Midwifery laboratories with a Nursing Ambassador, who did a terrific job showing and explaining what they do on a day to day basis in the labs, as part of their Nursing/ Midwifery course. What impressed the students the most was the explanation of the pathways into Health professions, the passion for the role shown by the ambassador and how clearly the iformation was communicated - an essential skill in the health professions.
The students and staff from Yea SC were thrilled with the event, which was followed by a tour of the University campus, led by another La Trobe University Student Ambassador.
Many thanks to Julia Watts from the LEAP into...Health team and Grace Torcaso from La Trobe University’s School’s Engagement and Future Students Unit, along with their University Ambassadors.
